UN Security Council Urges Investigation Team Drag North Korea to Court

chairman
UN investigative team linked
human rights violations in North
Korea ,
Michael Kirby , Thursday
( 04/17/2014 )
local time , requested the Board
UN Security filed a country
The communist criminal court
international ( ICC ) .

" In a week where a lot of cases
gross human rights violations seized
the attention of the security
council , we
said that the case
human rights violations in the DPRK
( Korea
North ) is far above the other cases
in the world , "said Kirby , in front of
the meeting
informal council .

International criminal court
can investigate the case -
severe criminal cases in the state -
countries that are already members
the institution .

However , the ICC can only
prosecute
crime in a country that is not
become members if
obtain permits or green light
of the UN Security Council . North
Korea , like
Libya and Sudan does not
ICC member states .

The results of the investigation team
leader
Michael Kirby concluded
massive human rights violations
occurred in North Korea and most
of whom could
categorized crimes against
humanity .

" Only the Security Council can do
act promptly and impartially to
ensure accountability , meet
responsibility to protect
And stop the violation of human
rights
Human rights that would interfere
peace and security of the world , "
Kirby said before the UN Security
Council .

Meanwhile, the U.S. ambassador to
the UN ,
Samantha Power , welcomed the
description of Michael Kirby and
North Korean defectors .

Samantha
said the problems in North Korea
deserves attention and
action from the UN Security Council .
" Remarks of this first hand ,
of torture , rape ,
forced abortion , as well as
This gives infanticide
a real picture of repression
systematic and ruthless regime
North Korea against its people , "
said
Samantha.

However , China , one country
owner veto , has
shows the signal will
protect the neighbor and
ally , North Korea , from the
sanctions .

Last month in Geneva , Switzerland ,
China
told the UN Human Rights
Commission
that the investigation of Korean
North was merely an accusation
and recommendations are very much
of reality .
